Marty Novak is a Tucson-based singer and multi-instrumentalist who brings the musicianship, attitude, and stage presence of Chrissie Hynde to life. More than simply recreating Hynde’s look, Marty delivers an authentic performance that captures the spirit of one of rock’s most influential frontwomen.

A key part of her performance is honoring Hynde as a musician. Marty doesn’t just wear the guitar—she plays it, bringing the hands-on authenticity that is central to The Pretenders’ sound.

When PretendAZ expands into its high-energy selection of 80s rock and dance favorites, Marty shares the stage with her fellow bandmates, who also contribute lead vocals and harmonies. Together, they bring the same musicianship and energy to the broader 80s experience.

Tom O'Shea
Bass & Vocals

Tom O'Shea brings decades of professional experience and strong musicianship to PretendAZ. A graduate of the State University of New York with a degree in Music Performance, Tom has performed throughout his career as a bassist, vocalist, and audio engineer, including with the touring band Corte and Arizona's Sedona Crossing, which he co-founded.

In PretendAZ, Tom provides the solid bass foundation that drives the band's sound while adding lead and harmony vocals. His experience and versatility help give the band its tight, energetic live performance.

Robert Feeney
Lead Guitar and Vocals

Robert Feeney is one of Tucson's most respected and sought-after guitarists. Known for his versatility, precision, and musicianship, he has performed with numerous well-known Southern Arizona bands.

As lead guitarist for PretendAZ, Robert's dynamic playing and memorable solos often become a highlight of the show. He captures the spirit and style of original Pretenders guitarist James Honeyman-Scott while bringing his own artistry and experience to the role. His combination of expressive guitar work, strong vocals, and deep musical knowledge helps bring The Pretenders' music to life with authenticity and energy.

Adrian Rupp
Drums

Adrian Rupp brings precision, power, and musicality to the driving foundation of PretendAZ. A lifelong student of rock drumming, he draws inspiration from legendary players such as Neil Peart, John Bonham, and Lars Ulrich while bringing his own experience and style to the band.

Adrian understands that great drumming is about more than keeping time. From iconic song introductions and signature grooves to the fills that make a song instantly recognizable, he pays close attention to the details that define the original recordings.

His combination of technical skill, strong musical instincts, and attention to detail helps give PretendAZ the energy, dynamics, and authenticity that make the live performance come alive.
